Yes, you can replace your Montana medical marijuana card if it is lost, stolen, or damaged. The Cannabis and Alcohol Regulation Division (CARD) handles replacements through the TAP portal.
Do I Need to Report a Lost or Stolen Card?
Yes, reporting a lost or stolen card is recommended to:
- Prevent unauthorized use of your card
- Protect yourself from potential legal issues
- Initiate the replacement process
How to report: Contact CARD at (406) 444-0596 or email DORCCD@mt.gov. Provide your name, date of birth, and registry card number.
How to Get a Replacement Card
- Log into your TAP portal account
- Navigate to the card replacement section
- Select the reason for replacement (lost, stolen, damaged, name change, etc.)
- Pay the $10 replacement fee
- Print your temporary replacement card immediately
- Permanent replacement card arrives by mail in ~30 days

Name or Address Changes
If your name or address changes, you must update your registry information through TAP:

Maintaining Continuous Access
While awaiting your permanent replacement card:
- Your temporary printed card is valid at all Montana dispensaries
- Continue to purchase at medical tax rates (4%)
- Your purchase history and limits remain unchanged in METRC
- Carry your Montana ID alongside the temporary card
