FAQ

Common Questions About Michigan MMJ Cards

Who conducts the Michigan medical marijuana evaluation on MMJ.com?

Michigan evaluations on MMJ.com are conducted by Dr. Johnathan Miller, MD, licensed by the Michigan Board of Medicine. Under the Michigan Medical Marijuana Act (MCL 333.26421 et seq.), a physician with a bona fide physician-patient relationship completes the Physician Certification Form that the Cannabis Regulatory Agency (CRA) requires with your Michigan Medical Marijuana Program application.

Does Michigan let a first-time patient be certified by video?

Yes. Michigan has no in-person initial-visit requirement for medical marijuana certifications, so first-time patients and existing MMMP card holders book the same 15-minute audio-visual video visit. The physician must still establish a bona fide relationship by reviewing your history and current condition during the visit.

What does the Michigan physician send me after the visit?

A signed Physician Certification Form. You upload it, with your Michigan driver's license or state ID and the $40 CRA application fee, in the CRA patient registry portal. The certification is valid for state submission for six months from the signature date, so do not get certified more than a few months before you plan to apply.

How long does the CRA take after the physician certifies me?

The CRA reviews complete applications in approximately 15 business days and mails the physical registry card, valid for two years, to the Michigan address on file. Your physician certification is the clinical half of that application; the state fee and identity documents are the administrative half.

What should I have ready for the Michigan video visit?

A Michigan driver's license or state ID, a list of your current medications, and any records describing the debilitating condition you are seeking certification for. Records are helpful but the physician can establish the condition through the clinical interview and your reported history.
