Texas Compassionate Use Program: Card & Prescription Guide
Texas operates differently from most states—there's no physical medical marijuana card. Instead, prescriptions are registered in the Compassionate Use Registry of Texas (CURT), and patients access their medication through registered dispensaries.
Does Texas Issue Physical Medical Marijuana Cards?
No. Texas does not issue physical medical marijuana cards. Your physician registers your prescription directly in the CURT system, which allows you to purchase low-THC cannabis from licensed dispensaries.
What If I Lose Access to My Prescription?
If you need to verify or restore access to your CURT registration:
- Contact your prescribing physician
- They can verify your status in the CURT system
- No physical card replacement needed
Do I Need to Report Issues?
If you believe your prescription information has been compromised, contact:
- Texas DPS: (512) 424-7293
- CURT Website: dps.texas.gov/rsd/CUP
